LESSON TWO (11 JUNE 2020) ALGEBRA
GOOD MORNING GRADE EIGHTS
Today we will be working from pages 102 to 106 of the textbook.
Remember, when we expand an expression, we take whatever is outside the bracket and multiply with the term/s inside the bracket. Once that has happenend, we can then simplify the expression.
When we say simplify, we are referring to collecting like terms and grouping them together.
A like term is one that has the same variable/s with the same exponents.
Be sure to refresh yourself with exponents from module three of the textbook.
When simplifying with division we cancel out factors where possible. (I am referring to the examples on page 105).
WORK TO BE DONE IN EXERCISE BOOKS:
ACTIVITY 8.2 AND ACTIVITY 8.3
Please try to do all of these questions as the practice will help you perfect your ability to simplify. the concept of simplifying is a skill that is applied throughout algebra.
