TERM 3 TOPIC GEOGRAPHY

INTRODUCTION

-Earth's surface is continually worn away by the forces of nature such as wind, rain, frost and waves.

- natural processes shape all natural landforms, for example

i) - rivers carve out valleys and in some places they leave fertile mud over wide areas.

ii) - the action of waves produces cliffs and beaches along the coast.

ii) - water and ice break up rocks in high areas, creating pointed mountain peaks.

iv) - in very cold climates, thick layers of ice move over land, carving deep valleys with steep sides.

v) - winds blow sand across deserts, producing sand dunes and sand-carved rocks.

NB- People also contribute to the shape of the land by building settlements, minig and farming. Soil erosion is caused by a combination of human activity and natural processes.

Read through the information attached and make a summary of the concept of weathering and the different types of weathering. Respond to the activities as self check.
