Erosion and deposition

Weathering - the wearing down of the earth's surface by the action of forces linked to weather. weathering happens in one place, with little movement of material.

Erosion- is the wearing away of teh earth's surface by the movement of weathered material. There are three main agents of erosion; water, wind and ice.

- the main difference between weathering and eosion wears away the earth's surface through moving objects scouring the surface, and weathering happens in one place.

Depositon- it is the build up of material that has been removed from the earth's surface by weathering erosion. Weathering and erion produce loose stones, soil and mud.

- rivers, ocean waves and wind deposit the loose material they carry when the lose energy, the material may build up as large depositional features such as stones in a river valley or beaches and sand dunes along coast.
