Visual Art: Continuous Line Drawings
×
Study the pictures above.
Each image is recognisable, but is created by a single line winding around and through the space.
Now read the notes on page 4 and underline keywords. Also colour in the examples of Celtic knots & crosses.
What do you notice about these very old designs?
In Paul Klee's "Gone Fishing" there are fish, boats, people and a lighthouse. The fishing lines draws your eye towards something that seems to not belong in the landscape. What is it? Why do you think it is there?
Lesson Preparation:
Practise some of your own ideas (you might be able to use in class), with a piece of string or rope of about 1m.
Lie it flat on your worksheet in the shape of your image
- YOU MAY NOT CUT THE STRING!
- YOU MAY NOT GO OUTSIDE THE FRAME!
- DO NOT STICK ANYTHING ON YOUR WORKSHEET, YET!
You will be given a piece of string to create your own, original, continuous line image in class.
If you are absent on the day, you will have to bring a DOCTOR's CERTIFICATE.
You need to bring page 5-6 in your Visual Arts File, and glue, colour pencils, and an idea for your design.
