Dear Parents, Guardians, Staff and Learners,

I hope you and your families are well. As you are aware Alexandra High school academic staff have been loading work for all grades in all subjects. With the National Department of Basic Education being directed by the COVID-19 Command Council as to the exact date of return, all stakeholders have become anxious about all grades, more especially, the grade 12s. The planned return to school involves a staggered return of staff and different grades and it is therefore essential that all learners are constantly engaged with curriculum coverage. It is for this reason, that I have asked our IT service provider, Techgents, to assist with a portal for online lessons. This portal is a link to our school website. The school has applied for free use of the website through Vodacom and a government initiative. It is hoped that all teachers will then be able to not just put out work to do, but rather PowerPoint lessons and online lessons. This initiative may then continue as part of ICT teaching in the future. While the grade 12s are allowed to attend school, the other grade learners will need to be occupied. The programme will involve training staff to upload lessons once we get back. In the meantime, two staff members, Mrs Theron and Mrs Jordan will be assisting with uploading lessons. If no new work has been uploaded onto your grade, please refer to the D6 connect app to ensure that learners have completed all the tasks for all subjects. New work will be uploaded from next week in all subjects. As previously stated, all work must be completed. Any work that is difficult must be attempted. The teachers will help you ensure you understand the work, but you MUST, as learners show that you have attempted ALL the work. Read your textbooks and other sources for assistance where necessary. Dear Parents and Learners, I wish to thank you for your ongoing support in this challenging times. Remember our Mission statement with the values of Self-discipline, Caring, Integrity and Respect. You are stronger than you think. Your blood is maroon! You are champions of your life! Persevere! Keep fighting till the end! Be safe and take care.

Kind regards
Mrs A. Pillay
