We are still looking at equations, this worksheet has examples that you can follow and shows you how to solve for a variable using a two-step method.

Here we are saying: 2x +5 = 4x – 1 , since you are now working with the variable as it appears on both sides of your equal to sign, the logic is to get the terms with the variable on to one side and the constants on the other side. This will allow you to simplify the variable, they will be like terms. Also to simplify the constants. All this is shown in the examples.
