We have studied plant and animal tissue, and so we understand how specialised the different parts of these organisms can be.

We are now going to see how humans have taken this knowledge, and have manipulated living things to work for us. (Bio means Life, and Technology refers to how humans have worked on it.)

In this way we will find out how we use living things in medication, in tissue culture and in research, as well as in agriculture and industry. Moreover, we will see how we can breed an animal identical to its mother, with no need for a father. This process is controversial, and there are many problems associated with it. We are simply understanding how scientists do it.

The questions in the previous section that dealt with this section can now all be answered.
