Cambrian Explosion (Term 3, Weeks 9 and 10, 20 September - 1 October)
The slides for this section were included in last week's notes. Evidence shows that a massive number of different organisms arose at the end of the Archaen Eon (570 million years ago), and this started the Phanerozoic Eon. The first Era of this Eon is called the Cambrian Era. The reasons for this sudden growth of life are suggested in your Study Guide and in your slides.
A lot of our evidence is based on fossil remains, and these are also discussed.
Complete the questions you can now do (based on this section).
In our final week of the term (Week 10, 27 September - 1 October) we must consolidate on the knowledge gained so far, in preparation for our final studies on the topic next term.
