31. Preparations for Exams (Term 4, Week 4)

At Alex (in all subjects), we are writing the full examinations so as to help prepare our learners properly so as to cope with conditions when they are in matric.

So we will write two papers in Life Sciences. Each paper will be [150] marks, and 150 minutes long. Their structures are the same as each other, and are described below.

Section A is [50] marks long and consists of 1 question which is made up of Multiple Choice, Biological Terms, Match the Columns, and some less complicated questions.

Section B is [100] marks in total and has two questions of [50] marks each. These include the types of questions you are used to, often based on a diagram given. You will always be asked to draw one of the different types of graph, or to respond to one that is given in the paper.

There will be NO essays in either paper.

In preparation for these exams, you have already been guided through the sections by your teacher, by the Apollo notes, and by your Study Guides. You have used the questions in your Workbooks to consolidate on each section, and have already marked those questions. Now is the time to build on this, and to use the Q & A section of your Study Guides for the final (intense) preparations for the actual exams.

This is a Content Subject. The required work needs to be done to cover its entire Contents.

The attached slide gives you the details of which sections to expect in which paper, and how many marks each section will count.

Good luck - try to enjoy preparing for these exams!
