Visual Art: Vanitas Diptych or Triptych

Homework: Read and underline keywords relating to symbolism on pages 45-49 in your Visual Arts file.
Underline (in a different colour) on page 45-46 the answers to the questions on page 47 about the interview.
Put your name and surname, admin and class, the date and the heading SYMBOLISM on a page from your exam pad.
Write out the answers for the Interview with Father Petros, leaving a line between answers.

Vanitas paintings are supposed to make us think about how fragile our lives are - particularly relevant in these times.
They remind us that we should live each day to the full and spread love and kindness where we can.
Answer the questions on page 49 on the worksheet, under the title for each painting.

Classwork: Create an artwork on page 50 in your Visual Arts File.
Make a pencil drawing, using an iconic symbol of either time, life or death.

A diptych is a two-panel painting - so you will cut one large "hinged door" the shape and size of the space on page 50.

For the triptych you will need three panels when it is opened. Two smaller, half-size "hinged doors" to cover the space on page 50.
OR
You may choose to make the 3 panels overlap! You will cut two large panels, like for a diptych, to open one to the right and one to the left of the central panel.

This work will be done next term, in the first lesson, after the break.
